Inspirational Book Recommendation of the Month

Note from Larissa:
” If you enjoy reading personal development books, I highly recommend The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey.

On my most recent trip to Montana, I started reading this book on the plane. Among other things, it discusses how to be proactive in situations that we feel helpless in. Very enlightening on so many levels, regardless of your profession or position among family members. The author refers to both family & professional relationships and discusses the best way to address those fragile situations we all have in our lives. For example, he brings up something simple like “the word responsibility—response-ability—the ability to choose your response.” Then he goes on to say “Because we are, by nature, proactive, if our lives are a function of conditioning and conditions, it is because we have, by conscious decision or by default, chosen to empower those things to control us.” And “In making such a choice, we become reactive.”  And he goes on from there…

But I just love that we never really think about the simplicity of the word “responsibility.”  To me it’s always just something that we HAVE to do.  If you think about your responsibilities with that different perspective, it can release a lot of stress!! I know we can all use that. Any way, I hope everyone gets a chance to check this book out and enjoy it as much as I am.  “
